BIGHORN 100

Leg one of the Rocky Mountain Slam checked off. Surprisingly difficult course--felt incredibly long (compared to Wasatch/Bear) with large sections of difficult/poor trail conditions (cow trail, dried mud, rutted) but the scenic course more than makes up for the tough trail. Great weekend. Per usual many ups and downs including my first ever nap/melt-down taking an hour to sleep and recoup. Very pleased with 26:26 as I had written off any chance to go sub 30 with 40 miles to go.

Congratulations on getting this one done, Kendall. I hope you don't bait and switch on your write-up, this one sounds like it will be a good read.

A little unrelated: I was just looking through your arsenal of shoes above. I'm curious because in any brand running shoe I've ever had I've gotten at least 500 miles out of a pair and sometimes more. Are you wearing out your shoes that fast, or do the uppers or other parts give out before the rest of the shoe? Or do you just get sick of them?

Interesting on the shoes. Most of my Cascadias I'm getting good mileage. I just don't race with them over 300. The Cascadias can go well beyond 500 miles and I keep most of them. Some of the others with lower mileage are more experimental and just for messing around.

That report was a fantastic read, with awesome pictures, an inspirational coming back story, and a lesson to be grateful. Congrats on beating your race goal! I look forward to reading your reports for the next three 100's. This is amazing stuff, Kendall!
