You go up 2500' in the first 4 miles? I'm watching the 2012 video on Youtube. It looks fantastic. How does anybody pass anybody on that single track?

You scared me Tom. I hadn't really looked at it yet. Just watched the video as well--not too bad (thanks for the tip). Wasatch 100 has a pretty brutal start as well climbing 4,000 ft in about 5-6 miles.
Been reading about some of the guys doing Mount Olympus out here, 4,150 ft in 3.3 miles (2,300 ft in the last 1.3 miles to the top)--yowza!

People are pretty good about moving over and off trail on the single-track. Going up usually it's a slog and not much passing. Downhill is where you get more movement in position.

It's funny. Road runners would see that elevation profile and pick another race. Trail runners see the same thing and start salivating! Best of luck to you. Do you have any goals, now that you have looked into it?

On a longer race I'd try to put together some goal times and splits. For the most part I'm going into this one blind. I have looked at those who have completed this one as well as one I know and have completed to see how they did in comparison. It looks like it's about 1-1.5 hours slower than the Red Hot 55K (Moab). I'm a 5:26 Red Hot guy so thinking sub 7 is a pretty good goal if I have a good day. Been feeling pretty crappy for the last week so we'll see.
Thanks for checking in!
